I've always wondered what the point of YouTube's current video editor is... YouTube's video editor should allow the replacement of all elements of the video itself by importing chosen replacement files from a local computer. YouTube's video editor should be able to truly separate the audio and video tracks and should allow the user to replace any part of the video without having to delete and/or re-upload the entire video from scratch.
Example: I uploaded (and published) a video consisting of a static image and an audio track (composed by me). Now, if I go into YouTube's video editor, what can I actually do? Very little: at most, I can replace the audio track with a track from YouTube's database, but I can't replace the audio track by importing one from my computer. For the video, it's even worse: at most, I can trim parts, but I can't replace the video (or image) file currently in YouTube's video editor.
I had already pointed out this problem a few years ago, saying how YouTube's video editor, left as it is now, is something almost completely useless... I'd love to run a poll to see how many users actually use YouTube's current video editor.
YouTube's video editor needs to be rethought and built to function like a real video editor. Therefore, it should introduce the ability to replace both the video/image track and the audio track by importing files from a local computer. Once that's done, it will no longer be necessary to re-upload the video from scratch (deleting the previous one), allowing you to keep your likes, subscribers, shares, and comments !!
