Focusrite Scarlett 18i8 _ Audio Instability Still Present

Post n° 5

If you click above (in this video) you can hear the nasty noise that appears when you least expect it...I thought that with this latest update the card had finally worked properly (after 5 years of ordeal) instead, even with this latest update, the distortions appear when you least expect it...

I disabled all power-saving auto-suspend settings (including those for USB ports), both from the management and devices menu and from the power options, but it didn't help. The problem is that this noise appears suddenly, when you least expect it, and most importantly, without anything being done to the computer... As if something suddenly failed... or as if something stopped working as it should, but without any external (or deliberate) cause. This is what's annoying! The card can work fine for six hours, then suddenly the distortion starts...

It should be noted that these problems mainly occur with the M. Windows audio drivers (at least for me), so it is not possible to rule out possible instability (or conflicts) between Windows and its audio drivers and vice versa... It is not possible to know if the problem is with Focusrite, if it is with the USB connection (protocol), or if it is with Microsoft...

I'm leaning toward going back to a breakout cable that connects to a PCIe port (at least for desktop computers). Instead of connecting the card with a USB cable, you build a PCIe card and connect the external card via a breakout cable (at least 2.5 meters long).
